MEET OUR STAFF

Beatriz V. Barrett:

Beatriz is the director and a lead instructor for Little Spanish Explorers.  Her desire

to pass her Spanish heritage and language onto her sons led her to create Little Spanish

Explorers.  After eleven years of trial work, Beatriz hung up her heels and her law

books and launched a bilingual program.  For the last three years, she has provided

parents with the opportunity to expose their young children to a second language

and a culture in a nurturing and playful environment.  Her goal is to make learning

Spanish language and culture a positive experience and to show children that being

bilingual is "cool".  Beatriz never gave a second thought to growing up bilingual in

Miami.  Her friends and family were all being raised bilingual and bicultural.  She now

realizes that this was a priceless gift.  A gift that she wishes to share not only with her

children but other children whose parents appreciate the value of being bilingual.

Beatriz's passion for teaching children Spanish language and culture is evident in all

of her programs.  Beatriz has served as an instructor at the University of Miami

teaching in the continuing education program.  She has also served as an 8th grade

Spanish instructor at Our Lady of the Assumption in Lynnfield and at Little Spanish

Explorers for children ages 2 to 8 years old.

Maria Taranto:

Maria is a lead instructor and the newest addition to the Little Spanish Explorers

family.  A native of Ecuador, she first lived in the United States as an exchange

student in 1997.  She returned in 1999 and has remained in the United States ever since.

She adores children and has served as a Spanish teacher for the lower elementary

school at Our Lady of the Assumption in Lynnfield, Massachusetts since 2001.  Her

sweet disposition and love for children is evident from the moment you meet her.
